Three street food stalls could be installed on Centre
Three street food stalls could be installed on the Centre in the space where fenced-off steps to Broad Quay are currently situated.
Contractors ETM have now twice resurfaced the area formerly covered by fountains, with artists currently painting a large mural on the new tarmac.
The food stalls would be located on three sets of steps which will be filled in to create the trio of pitches if the plans are approved.
is needed now More than ever
Potential operators would have to apply to Bristol City Council for the pitches, with the council applying for planning permission from itself to build the structures on which the units would be placed.
La Cremeria ice cream stand currently occupies a pitch close to the steps, with other permanent stalls occupied by Bristol Crepe Kiosk close to No. 1 Harbourside, Falafel King the other side of the Cascade Steps and Ka:Fei the other side of Baldwin Street and one of Bristol’s best cafes.

Planning documents say: “The proposed trading units are also part of an ongoing programme of improvements intended to create a more usable, vibrant street scene, as well delivering economic benefits.
“They will complement and expand the current food market operating within the central space to the south Cascade Steps area.”
A heritage statement within the planning application said that “whilst recognising the rich historic context, the proposals are also in keeping with a heterogenous mix of the new and old that gives the Centre much of its vibrancy”.
