Post-apocalyptic Bristol features on new bags of coffee

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Sep 3, 2025

Digital illustrator James Yeo did not need to look too far for inspiration behind new bags of coffee for New Cut.

The cafe is near the Fairbairn steam crane, is next to the Matthew and overlooks the Lloyds Amphitheatre; all three of which now feature in the new bag designs.

Look closely and you will also recognise a red lighthouse which is among the decorations in the cafe owned by Jack Hudspith.

When placed next to each other, all four bags also flow together to form a continuous panorama; albeit of a post-apocalyptic Bristol with the walls of the cafe collapsed, the crane covered in foliage and the Matthew sunk.

Inside the bags, you will find New Cut’s house blend from Colonna in Yate, a single origin hand brew filter, a batch brew filter and a single origin espresso.
