‘Disloyalty’ card scheme to encourage visits to new cafes

By Martin Booth  Monday May 22, 2023

A new ‘disloyalty’ card scheme will encourage coffee drinkers to try different independent cafes across Bristol.

The ‘Polyamoroats’ card sees eight cafes join forces with Oatly, with the aim of boosting the city’s hospitality industry as well as rewarding customers who choose plant-based drinks.

Just two stamps from two different coffee shops are needed to get a third oat drink for free throughout June.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

You will be able to pick up a card from cafes taking part:

Oatly barista market developer for the South West, Mike Jordan, said: “I’m super excited for ‘Polyamoroats’ coming up in June.

“I’ve always found the Bristol coffee scene to be so supportive of one another and, although many industries can be competitive, it doesn’t feel this way.

“Part of what makes specialty coffee so interesting is the variety; styles of brewing, different origins, processes, roasters and of course coffee shops.

“The disloyalty card celebrates this sentiment and encourages people to try somewhere new and get rewarded for doing so.

“I know times are tough right now for hospitality so I’m hoping this will drive some traffic and create a nice (caffeinated) buzz around Bristol!”

Small Street Espresso manager Tash Ebbs added: “We’re looking forward to joining forces with some of our friends across Bristol’s coffee community for the launch of this special ‘disloyalty’ card.

“The Oatly Polyamoroats will not only encourage you to try oat milk, it could also introduce you to your new favourite cafe.”
