Bristol is the third best city for vegans in the UK

By Celina Tomas  Wednesday Jan 17, 2024

Bristol has been named as the third-best city for vegans in the UK, behind Brighton and Manchester.

New research commissioned by LNER has found that Bristol is leading in monthly searches for vegan restaurants per person and claims the third-highest density of vegan eateries per square mile, with 4.7 vegan restaurants and 3.4 vegan takeaways per 100,000 residents.

Bristol is home to a plethora of vegan markets and eateries, including Herbivore in Wapping Wharf, which is self-proclaimed as “possibly the world’s smallest vegan deli.”

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Some of Bristol’s best vegan eateries include Cafe Kino, an ethical community-owned cafe on Stokes Croft combining a non-profit ethos with a diverse menu featuring burgers, falafels and decadent cakes; and Oowee Vegan, which has expanded to London and Brighton since being founded in Montpelier.

Two other new openings include Vegan India on Gloucester Road and Pastan on Prince Street.

St Nick’s Market also boasts a number of eateries and stalls offering a wide range of plant-based produce.
