Bristol Walk Fest back for 2018

By William Ledbury  Monday Feb 5, 2018

Bristol Walk Fest will be hitting the city’s streets and parks once again this May.

In its sixth year, the annual, month-long event regularly attracts more than 500 walkers from all across the region – and they’re pushing for more this time round.

Activities and events take place throughout May and there’s plenty to offer for all ages and abilities.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

So, if you’re a youthful pioneer or an ageing stroller, take part in gentle park walks and historical paths – or if you fancy something more testing then challenge yourself on vigorous uphill hikes and urban exploration paths – there’s something for everyone.

Events start on Tuesday, May 1 to Thursday, May 31 2018, and everyone is encouraged to take part in some of the 140 walks made available across the city – most of which are free to anyone who wishes to join in.

This year, Bristol Walk Fest is teaming up with Active Ageing Bristol to co-ordinate the event.

Karen Lloyd, Active Ageing Bristol manager, said: “Walking is a great way to be active and by getting out just once a day for a stroll can make such a difference to your health and well being.

“I hope that we see more people than ever before getting out and taking part this year.”

Lloyd added: “Thanks, must go to the many local walking groups for supporting the 2018 Bristol Walking Festival.”

Last year, Bristol Walk Fest also launched a campaign to see if people could challenge themselves to walking a mile a day. In a bid to help their efforts, they invited children from local schools and members of the public to walk around College Green five times on the day – which is the equivalent to walking a mile. This year, they’re encouraging people to do the same.

If you’ve got an idea for an event, submissions are now open on www.bristolwalkfest.com.
