Site-specific specialists fundraising to keep staging theatre
Insane Root have performed at locations including the Clifton Suspension Bridge vaults, the former swimming pool in Eastville Park and Redcliffe Caves.
The site-specific theatre specialists have now launched a public appeal to help secure its future productions.
In their tenth anniversary year, Insane Root hope to stage an immersive all-female and non-binary production of Shakespeare’s Henry V at Temple Church in Redcliffe.
is needed now More than ever
Insane Root co-founder and producer, Justin Palmer, said: “With funding for the arts at an all time low we need the public’s support to secure future productions so we can continue to bring people together in unique spaces.
“Theatre has the power to unite and empower communities and we are committed to continuing to take our productions to unusual spaces where inclusive audiences can experience the magic of a live production.
“Indeed, we are often told that our productions attract many people who wouldn’t normally go to the theatre or participate in the arts.
“Unfortunately for us, with the increased costs associated with producing shows in recent years coupled with the ongoing impact on the arts from the pandemic and a tough economic climate, we need support to be sustainable.
“Some generous corporate funders are already confirmed for this next production but public donations are now needed to realise the show for summer 2025.”

Away from the production, Insane Root hope to develop a six-week summer programme of more than 20 additional activities including drama workshops, history tours and outdoor yoga.
Insane Root will also create 30 paid work placements and five steward roles for marginalised groups including homeless people and asylum seekers
Palmer added: “With some funding already secured from local organisations and businesses, momentum is building for the show and community project.
“I am thrilled to be so close to launching it, especially in such an amazing space in the heart of Bristol.”
