Review: Let It Be, Bristol Hippodrome
The biggest-ever tour of this celebration of The Beatles’ music started its run at the Hippodrome last night – and the Bristol audience were soon on their feet, going right back to the Sixties.
This hugely popular West End Show, which is about four lads from Liverpool who took over the world of music, is so popular that it’s already been seen by over 1 million people worldwide.
It was therefore decided that the national UK tour would visit 26 theatres across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales between January and July this year – and it was met by a sell-out audience on its Bristol opening night.
Having been at this venue in the past, the production already had a loyal following. And it seemed even more polished then the last time it graced the Hippodrome stage. The musicians had the audience in awe, never missing a cue or a note and moving through the set list with ease and style.

Reincarnating the most seminal band of all time on stage is a tall order but Emanuele Angoletti (Paul), Reuven Gershon (John), John Brosnan (George) and Luke Roberts (Ringo) smashed it – Reuven and Emanuele’s vocal ranges in particular were perfection.
We were all treated to a vast selection from the Fab Four, starting with the early music right through to the latter tunes. The biggest applause came after the second half’s acoustic set, featuring the likes of Blackbird, kicked into action.
This was a totally engaging show that brought the audience to their feet on several occasions. Many people say there will never be anything like The Beatles again. On this evidence, that would appear to be true.
Let It Be continues at the Hippodrome until Saturday, June 18. For more info and to book tickets, visit www.atgtickets.com/shows/let-it-be/bristol-hippodrome
