Luke Hereford’s ‘Nice Things: A Queer Love Story’ to visit The Wardrobe Theatre
Described as “fiery, intimate and heartfelt”, a new play by writer and theatremaker Luke Hereford will be arriving at The Wardrobe Theatre just days after its world premiere in London.
Hereford’s 2022 debut play Grandmother’s Closet was an autobiographical examination of growing up gay in south Wales, a period through which he relied on his Nan – replete with her eclectic wardrobe – as his “personal cheerleader”.
In Nice Things: A Queer Love Story, he charts the experience of a gay couple who, on the face of it, have it all – only to face newfound turbulence when one of them comes out as non-binary.

How do we deal with drastic changes in someone we love apparently unconditionally? Are they really that drastic? Does it actually change anything? Isn’t it better if your partner is just themself? Isn’t that what you love about them?
Geraint Rhys and Reece Connolly star in the two-hander, which is directed by Izzy Rabey and is co-produced by legendary Cardiff fringe theatre, Porter’s.
