The Croft gears up for big opening weekend
The countdown is on as the Croft prepares to reopen its doors to much fanfare at 4pm on Friday.
Bristol music stalwart Big Jeff‘s band the Outlines will headline the first gig in the Stokes Croft venue since its closure – in its former iteration of the Crofters Rights – last summer.
At the time the owners said it was a temporary closure but the independent music venue, that has hosted gigs for over 25 years, failed to reopen and hope seemed to be lost until Music Venue Properties launched a community ownership campaign that prompted much local excitement.
is needed now More than ever

The World Famous Dive Bars team have been hard at work getting the venue shipshape ready for its opening weekend
While the campaign is still ongoing, currently standing at 75 per cent of its £1.5m target that will see seven venues across the UK given a new lease of life as community owned spaces, the Croft has undergone a comprehensive refurb and will be relaunching with a full weekend of live music and clubnights over September 12 and 13.

Live music on the opening night kicks off with You? at 6.30pm, followed by Plum Jnr’s indie-punk shoegaze, the Ornsteins’ power pop and headliners the Outlines’ noisy, lyrical self-defined ‘nerd rock’.
The club night that follows is a meaningful one for the duo Brown Excellence, who are bringing their bhangra-meets-techno parties back to the venue where they began four years ago.

The Croft is a longstanding and much loved music venue, and its reopening has prompted huge excitement from the community
On Saturday 13 Enter the Noid bring DIS FIG to the back room, followed by a super secret all night long power B2B from Scotland’s Headset.
Doors open for drinks from 4pm on Friday, in what will be the first of the Croft’s newly instigated daily happy hour with four pints for £10 from 4-8pm.
There’s only space for 140 in the live room so make sure you get down early.
