New release: Louis Alberry’s album is ‘cryptic and confessional’
Alt-folk artist Louis Alberry is known for his atmospheric instrumental guitar compositions as well as fronting psych acts Bigbyrd and the Good Beast.
Now he’s released a clutch of songs that delve deeper into the autobiographical, exploring childhood, loss of innocence, doubt, confusion and acceptance through haunting melodies, a tangle of guitars and a psychedelic haze.
“The title Milk Teeth comes from the somewhat odd phenomenon that I never lost most of my baby teeth,” Alberry said.
“This felt like a really apt metaphor somehow for the songs. They speak on things that I’ve sat with for many many years, things that now (like my teeth!) cause me quite a lot of difficulty and discomfort but that, because of their age, I’m somehow still very fond of.”

Milk Teeth nods to Nick Drake and Linda Perhacs with a Brazilian music influence. Alberry recorded and produced the album in his Bristol bedroom.
It has been released on DIY alt-folk label Cuculi: “They’ve become a really important part of the Bristol scene I feel, providing a platform for loads of artists, making lots of connections, supporting and championing. Legends!” Alberry said.
