Monday: Free4All Festival, Stag & Hounds
Too skint to go out until pay day? Fear not: for Old Market boozer and music scene hang-out the Stag & Hounds has free live music every night throughout January. Tonight’s entertainment comes from Bristol pop-punks Tie Fighter Pilot, with support from The Parlour Scene and Poundshop Life.

Tuesday: Billy Bragg & Joe Henry, St Georges
The English singer and activist hooks up with U.S singer-songwriter Henry to revisit their 2016 journey from Chicago to L.A. Reconnecting with the culture of railroad travel and the songs it inspired, the duo will perform the songs that they wrote in the waiting rooms and track sides that they found themselves at during the trip, along with songs from their respective back catalogues.

Tuesday: Stephen Johnson & English Piano Trio, The Lantern
Music journalist and broadcaster Stephen Johnson provides insight into the music as he joins the English Piano Trio for a performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s most famous work: the Piano Trio in C Major.

Thursday: Beth Rowley, The Lantern
Originally from Bristol, Beth Rowley’s rich, soulful vocals saw her feted at a young age, and her Brit-nominated album Little Dreamer went Top 10.  After a year touring with Jools Holland, and as main support for Laura Mvula, Beth is back in her home city for a headline show.

Friday: New Year New Noise 4: Klein / Agatha, Arnolfini
Bristol label Howling Owl’s annual weekender returns after a triumphant outing in 2016. Tonight, they invite artists Klein (pictured) and Agatha into the Dark Studio for an intimate performance.
