Lakota announces beginning of ‘new era’ with second venue
The team behind a several-decades-old nightclub is now ushering in a “new era” with a second, independent venue.
Since 1992, Lakota has been the setting for performances from numerous artists from Bristol and beyond.
They have, as they say, channelled Bristol’s underground scene with “unforgettable nights” for more than three decades.
is needed now More than ever
On Wednesday, the venue’s team announced the impending arrival of Moon Club, a 220-capacity venue within Lakota’s premises in St Paul’s, scheduled to open in September.
The stand-alone venue is an homage to the original Moon Club, which occupied the site until the 1980s.
While Lakota will continue to operate independently, the team visualises Moon Club as a venue “purpose-built for high-energy club nights, private events, and creative takeovers”.
The new venue will be equipped with a “cutting-edge” quadraphonic L-Acoustics 360° sound system, a self-contained bar area, custom reactive lighting and modular layout to suit everything from club nights to takeovers and private events.
The venue will also have fully accessible options available for promoters at all levels.
Announcing their new venture, the Lakota team said: “After 30+ years of channelling Bristol’s underground culture with unforgettable nights at Lakota, a new era begins.
“The space that houses Moon Club has long been part of Bristol’s club culture. From underground raves to iconic nights at Lakota. But in 2025, it steps out on its own.
“Moon Club stands independently with a focus on genre-fluid music, emerging talent, and scene-building creativity. It’s designed to give artists, collectives, and promoters the freedom to experiment and connect with audiences in an intimate yet professional setting.”
