Floating Cinema programme revealed

By Robin Askew  Monday May 11, 2015

The Floating Cinema will arrive sedately in Bristol’s Floating Harbour on Tuesday, July 7 for a week-long programme of events. Highlights include artist-led tours to the Arnolfini’s Floating Ballast Seed Garden (July 9); hands-on Cube-Cola workshops with Bristol-based artists Kate Rich and Kayle Brandon (July 10); and a grand finale free open air screening of Penny Woolcock’s feature From the Sea to the Land Beyond (July 11), which explores a century of life on Britain’s coastline. There’s also a Making Music from Noise workshop (July 7), onboard screenings and talks about films from the Bristol Record Office collection (July 8), and three tour screenings of The Cube’s The Film That Buys the Cinema (July 10).

Many of the events are free, but capacity is limited so you’ll need to grab tickets in advance. These will be available online here from Monday, June 8.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

It’s all part of this London-based mobile arts venue’s first ever eight-week tour, entitled Looping the Locks, Brentford to Bristol and Back Again, which promises to “bring the unexpected and innovative” to locations along the Kennet and Avon Canal, across West Berkshire and Wiltshire, before arriving in the floating harbour for its Bristol residency.
