Bristol-made film to premiere at Megascreen

By Martin Booth  Monday Sep 1, 2025

Back in the mists of 2020, a feature film was shot in Bristol.

Gifted Pain has since gone on to be shown and won awards at film festivals across the world but the action drama is only now receiving its hometown premiere at a special evening at the Bristol Megascreen.

Written and directed by Tobias Jon, the film follows the story of Christopher, a loner struggling with childhood tragedy.

Featuring many Bristol actors and crew, it was shot across Bristol including Avonmouth, Stokes Croft and Johnny Ball Lane.

Jon, also co-host of the BCfm breakfast show, said: “After five years in the making, it’s incredibly exciting to finally be sharing Gifted Pain with the world.

“We shot in Bristol as it’s my home town, has great locations and a fantastic group of independent filmmakers.

“So it means a lot to be hosting the premiere here and to be celebrating the hard work of everyone who has supported the production since 2020.”

The premiere of Gifted Pain takes place at the Bristol Megascreen on Saturday, and shortly after that will be available on Amazon Prime Video, Tubi and DVD.
