Wonka comfortably topped the chart for a second weekend and is now up to an impressive £18.5 million, which means it might yet become the most financially successful Willy Wonka flick to date. The only serious challenger to the sweetie-distributing single man was Japanese monster movie Godzilla Minus One, which grabbed nearly £1m at the UK box office over its opening weekend. Meg Ryan/David Duchovny romcom What Happens Later was the weekend’s big flop, taking just £28,000. At the foot of the chart, the event cinema screening of this year’s ROH production of The Nutcracker was the big seasonal hit, ahead of those reissues of Elf and Home Alone.
