Review: CRAFT Festival – ‘Keeping traditional skills alive’
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the CRAFT Festival in Cheltenham.
Held in the town hall, which had been decorated with colourful ribbons and flags, the festival brought together a range of makers, each showcasing their exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to their respective disciplines.
From blacksmithing to embroidery, the standard of work on display was incredibly inspiring.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the festival was the opportunity to engage directly with makers.
As a ceramicist myself, I particularly enjoyed exploring the pottery sections, where artisans shared insights into their processes, inspirations and the meticulous techniques behind their creations.
Beyond the stunning work on display, the atmosphere of the festival was warm and welcoming.
It was amazing to hear makers enthusiastically share their stories and allow visitors to connect with the human element behind each piece.

To me CRAFT is not just about appreciating beautiful objects but also about understanding the dedication, patience and creativity that goes into making them.

All in all, attending the festival was an inspiring experience that celebrated the best of contemporary craft.
It was a joy to witness such talent and to engage with makers who are keeping traditional skills alive while pushing the boundaries of their art.
