Global podcast juggernaut ‘No Such Thing as a Fish’ comes to Bristol Beacon
In their only southern date outside London, the international comedy podcast sensation No Such Thing As A Fish will be arriving at Bristol Beacon on September 6.
The multi-award-winning show regularly garners a million listens per week worldwide, and has been the impetus for three bestselling books and two series of the spin-off topical show, No Such Thing As The News (BBC Two).
As they mark a whole decade and 500 episodes of the podcast, Dan Schreiber, James Harkin, Anna Ptaszynski and Andrew Hunter Murray are on tour with Thundernerds, which begins with shows in UK and Ireland, followed by a string of dates in Australia and New Zealand.
is needed now More than ever
The quartet met as researchers and writers for QI, and have all gone on to achieve significant success in their own right – variously as broadcasters, novelists, producers, improv and comedy performers.
But the podcast itself is, by any measure, a juggernaut. Released weekly, the concept is a simple one: the team discuss their favourite facts of the last week.
At the last count, they have revealed upwards of 30,000 facts, with no sign of running dry.
When last on tour in the UK, they made Behind The Gills, a behind-the-scenes documentary showing just why the alchemy works so well. And for the die-hard ‘fishbusters’, it provided a welcome chance to “find out how Dan ruined his school essays, what James’s favourite fact is, why Anna once staged a burglary and the rude word that makes Andy cringe the most”.
The idea behind Thundernerds is to create an entirely new show every night, in celebration of “a decade of dorkery”.
No Such Thing As A Fish – Thundernerds (podcast) is at Bristol Beacon on September 6 at 7.30pm. Check www.bristolbeacon.org for ticket availability.
