The Festival of Stories returns to SPARKS

By Sarski Anderson  Tuesday Nov 12, 2024

Following a successful first iteration in March, Charlie Keenan of Paper Tales is preparing to put on the second Festival of Stories, helped by a band of volunteers and friends.

Set once again at SPARKS Bristol, the free, one-day event is designed to be a celebration of all things stories, bringing together “an eclectic mix of seasoned storytellers, emerging voices, and passionate listeners for a day filled with tales that span generations, cultures, and experiences”.

This time, the project has expanded to accommodate more than 30 creatives, delivering a range of performances, talks, workshops and craft activities spread across two floors.

There will be a chance to hone skills in anything from poetry to spoken word; writing for different age groups and audiences to bookbinding, as well as a chance to explore more about the process of getting published.

For Keenan, staging the event at this point in the calendar represents the ideal start to the festive season.

Staff and visitors alike will be encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character, together aiming to create “the ultimate fairytale experience”.

The Festival of Stories is at SPARKS Bristol on November 30, from 10am-6pm. The event is free, and no tickets are required, with a couple of paid-for optional extras. Visit www.sparksbristol.co.uk or follow the Facebook event page for updates.

The event is kindly sponsored by Tangent Books and Discover Your Bounce.
