New artwork appears in the New Cut
The top of a storm drain could be the most unusual place that a piece of street art has ever appeared in Bristol.
The new work by Lee Roy overlooks the New Cut above the outfall of the storm drain that is officially called the Malago Storm Water Interceptor but also goes by the nickname of Dreadnaught.
Lee Roy’s artwork is made up of the six yellow letters with purple shadowing that spell out his name, each one placed above where the Dreadnaught joins the New Cut opposite the newly reopened Chocolate Path.
Lee Roy is an artist whose pieces usually appears in painted form across Bristol.
The Malago Storm Water Interceptor was constructed in the early 1970s in order to prevent flooding in south Bristol, taking the flow of the Malago river and Pigeonhouse stream into the New Cut.
