Much-loved sculpture returns

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Aug 8, 2023

Bear With Me has been returned to its original location after receiving some TLC over the last few weeks.

Originally installed in September 2020 to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, the sculpture by Getting Up To Stuff shows a bear comforting a person in a hoodie who is holding their head in their hands.

The two figures are located in a nook overlooking Jacob’s Wells Road, close to the bridge connecting Upper Berkeley Close to West End car park.

There was sadness when the much-loved sculpture disappeared but the mysterious artist has now placed it back in situ after replacing its framework and the original bear, and anchoring it more firmly.

“It should be good for a few years now,” Getting Up To Stuff told Bristol24/7.

“I never imagined it would last this long.”
