Major donors to Colston Hall gifted exclusive pin
Major donors to the Colston Hall have been thanked with a limited edition pin. Created by Bristol jewellery designer Diana Porter, donors were presented with their pins at Diana Porter’s shop and studio workshop on Park Street.
The design of the pin is inspired by the history of the Colston Hall and the architect’s vision for the new space. Louise Mitchell, chief executive of Bristol Music Trust said: “It’s a pleasure to now present the finished articles to our major donors.
“We are delighted that Diana Porter has generously given her time and talent to supporting our transformation by creating these unique pieces of jewellery.”
The design for the limited edition pin is inspired by the history and new vision for Colston Hall.
The rebuilding of Colston Hall is one of the biggest development projects in the arts sector in Bristol.
The project involves remodelling and upgrading the main hall and the lantern and opening up the cellars for the first time in 150 years. The cellars will create a new performance space and educational facilities that will allow thousands more Bristol children to access music making sessions.
The cellars will also house the National Centre for Inclusive Excellence which provides a creative space for young people with special education needs and disabilities.
“Growing up in Bristol, I have been aware of the Colston Hall as an important concert hall for as long as I can remember,” said Diana Porter.
“Now, as a local jewellery designer, I was delighted to be asked to make a special lapel pin to support the renovation project,” she said. “It’s an iconic venue for music in Bristol with a country wide reputation and I’m proud to be involved with its restoration and refurbishment.”
