Exhibition celebrates art works of city’s healthcare professionals
Following the success of its previous two editions, the annual medical art show, showcasing the creative talents of Bristol’s healthcare professionals, is set to return with fresh offerings.
The three-day event will take place at Sparks in Broadmead, featuring a diverse range of works by medical students, doctors, dentists, veterinary surgeons, and other healthcare professionals across multiple mediums, under the theme of Reflections.
Independently organised by a group of medical students from the University of Bristol, the exhibition aims to bring to the forefront the personal and professional perspectives of healthcare workers in the city.
is needed now More than ever
The organisers, primarily fourth-year medical students, express their ongoing admiration for the creativity and passion of healthcare workers and their desire to connect with the public through art. “We’re constantly impressed by how our colleagues use art to express themselves,” they said.

Opening on Friday, the event highlights the emotional journeys of healthcare workers in Bristol, including both students and professionals.
The exhibition’s theme – focused on emotions – will showcase a range of artwork, from educational pieces to more personal reflections on the healthcare experience.
A collaboration with Artspace Lifespace, the exhibition aims to offer a realistic portrayal of healthcare experiences, often missing from mainstream media.

The annual art show featuring the works of city’s medical professionals is returning for the third year
Some pieces will be auctioned silently, with 70 per cent of the proceeds going to the artists and 30 per cent to Artspace Lifespace. Additionally, donations will be accepted directly by the charity.
The exhibition is designed to foster connections between healthcare workers, students, and the public, addressing communication gaps within healthcare and providing a space for emotional expression outside clinical environments.
One of the organisers, Alphi, said: “The creation of this art show offers healthcare professionals an opportunity to reflect on their personal experiences, both in life and work. It also provides a platform for those outside the healthcare sector to gain insight into our perspectives through the powerful medium of art.”

The exhibition will feature art works by both medical students and seasoned medical professionals under the theme of “Reflections”
Another organiser, Diya, explained: “Alphi and I were inspired to start the art show in 2023 after we encountered an arts trail in Bristol and met several artists.
“One particularly lovely lady was fascinated by the intersection of medical students, healthcare professionals, and art, both inside and outside of our medical school.
“We were so impressed by the work of our colleagues that we felt compelled to share it all in one place. Our first exhibition was held in collaboration with the faculty at Southmead Hospital.
“The following year, we expanded beyond the clinical environment, hosting the show at The Island and benefiting Artspace Lifespace.”

The exhibition will showcase art works of multiple medium
The Nelson Street-based Artspace Lifespace is a charitable organisation that manages venues in Bristol and North Somerset, offering affordable spaces for artists to create, develop, and showcase their work through studios, exhibitions, and events.
The reception on Friday will include food and drinks, with the exhibition running from Friday to Sunday.
