Meet some of your new city councillors
70 councillors are being elected across Bristol today. Follow our live feed here for the latest developments.
Here are just a few of our new elected representatives:
Asher Craig (Labour), St George West

“I’m feeling ecstatic. It was a resounding win. I worked my socks off. I knocked on every door. I leafleted every home. I spoke to hundreds of people. For me, this victory is about harnessing the energy I felt from people on the doorsteps. Marvin is about devolution. As he said, a councillor’s job is not just about casework.”
Cleo Lake (Green), Cotham (and her son Fitzroi)

“I stood for election due to the previous lack of diversity in the council. It needs to represent Bristol. I hope by standing I can inspire others, and inspire other ways of living and working in Bristol. I will not be about bickering either. I look forward to working with Marvin.”
Helen Godwin Teige (Labour), Southmead

“I cannot wait to get going, to draw attention to places like Southmead. Bristol is spoken of as a creative and artistic city, but we need to talk about areas like Southmead, providing jobs, apprentices, looking after our older people.”
Jon Wellington (Labour), Windmill Hill (with fellow victorious candidate Lucy Whittle)

“This was a tough ward to win, and I’m delighted to have two Labour councillors. We fought a positive campaign. We fought on local issues. There will be a huge amount of changes in this ward in the next four years. Our message got through to people.”
Kye Dudd (Labour), Central

“It has been a long campaign and I’m really pleased. It was touch and go whether we would get the second seat, and I’m really pleased that my running mate Paul Smith has got in. We need to deal with the housing issues in Bristol, defending social housing in this ward.”
