Regeneration scheme to open £50k community fund
One of the biggest regeneration schemes in the country has opened a new community fund to support local organisations and projects.
Bristol Temple Quarter LLP, the team behind the Temple Quarter Regeneration Zone, has launched the scheme – Bristol Temple Quarter Grant Programme.
The collective fund totals around £50,000, with grants available in two tiers – up to £1,000 and up to £5,000.
The initiative aims to support local organisations and pilot projects that contribute to the programme’s goals of “good work for all, community wellbeing and sustainable places”.

Managed by Quartet Community Foundation, the fund is open to constituted voluntary or community groups, registered charities and not-for-profit companies, including Community Interest Companies (CICs).
Eligible projects must be based in Bristol, South Gloucestershire or Bath & North East Somerset, and must demonstrate a clear link to the Temple Quarter area.
Karen Mercer, chief executive of Bristol Temple Quarter, said the fund aims to empower communities to shape meaningful change.
“I’m delighted to introduce the Temple Quarter Community Fund,” she said.
“Our ambition has always been to deliver meaningful change for local people, and this programme is another way we can support communities to shape that change themselves.
“We hope to see a wide range of initiatives and groups come forward with ideas that will make a difference for communities in and around Temple Quarter.”

Helen Godwin, mayor of the West of England said the initiative will help “connect communities to one of the region’s largest regeneration projects”.
“By investing in local ideas and grassroots projects, supporting jobs and skills, community and sustainability, the community fund will help ensure the benefits of Bristol Temple Quarter are seen and felt across the West,” said Godwin.
Spanning 135 hectares, the Temple Quarter Regeneration Zone is the largest brownfield regeneration district in the country and is expected to deliver a £1.6b annual boost to the regional economy.
Bristol City Council leader Tony Dyer said the fund demonstrates how regeneration can bring tangible benefits to local people.
“Communities directly affected by regeneration must feel the benefits of the change happening around them,” said Dyer.
“This fund shows the positive opportunities that Temple Quarter can deliver for communities, and I’m delighted to see the broad range of work that can be supported. It will empower local people and organisations who are already making such a difference in our city.”
Following this pilot round, Bristol Temple Quarter LLP hopes private sector partners will contribute to ensure the fund’s long-term impact.
