More national recognition for Bristol-born gift box company
With lockdown forcing consumer habits online, one small Bristol company is going from strength to strength.
Entrepreneur and working mum Ruth Morris set up her Babboo Box pregnancy survival kits business from her kitchen table in Eastville and just two years down the line, has gained national recognition for the innovative model, most recently featuring as one of the 12 best parenting subscription boxes by The Independent.
Ruth runs the business in partnership with her sister Jessica and each draw on their own experiences of pregnancy and early motherhood to curate specially designed packages for each stage of pregnancy.
“We pride ourselves on the products that we include in the box and I believe this is what has given us the edge,” says Ruth.
“The boxes are specifically designed for each stage of pregnancy. Jessica is a trained beauty therapist and spends a lot of time testing and researching products so that each box includes: useful items, pregnancy-safe products and a sprinkling of fun. We make a conscious effort to stay away from including sachets and samples and, where possible, we include full-size items.”

Ruth continues: “We also include personal touches in every box, including a contents card, tiny handmade bunting and a hand-written gift message.
“We work with a mix of high profile brands such as Dermalogica and Guinot, whilst also supporting other independent brands such as Good Bubble and Akamuti, many of these smaller companies were also started by mums and it’s great to be a platform to get their fabulous products out to expectant mums.
“We are very excited about the next twelve months as we look to start working with other independent companies and we will start selling on Amazon over the next few weeks.”
