Bristol&Bath Science Park backs eco park plan
Ecotricity’s plans to create a Green Technology Business hub as part of its proposed Eco Park development in Stroud have been praised by the boss of one of Britain’s leading science parks.
Tom Beasley, the head of the Forum and Innovation Centre at the Bristol & Bath Science Park, has backed the plans for Eco Park, intended to be ‘a place where green businesses and technology companies will come together and share ideas’. Blueprints for the 100-acre site at Junction 13 of the M5 include a business park alongside sporting facilities, as well as the creation of a new nature reserve and wildlife corridors designed to enhance biodiversity.
“Bristol & Bath Science Park tenants have benefited first-hand from clustering likeminded businesses together,” said Tom. “This has resulted in an increase in jobs, new business start-ups, new technology and business growth.
“As science and technology businesses in the area of low carbon and environmental technologies grow, it is good to know there is the potential for increased accommodation capacity, collaboration and clustering.”
He added that the park was an opportunity to demonstrate that commercial development can be undertaken sustainably: “We will all benefit from the lead being taken in sustainable construction, as we strive to further limit our impact on the environment and reduce carbon emissions.”
