Bristol-headquartered food flavour manufacturer marks bumper year
A Bristol-headquartered food colouring and flavour manufacturer has marked a milestone in its growth and sustainability credentials.
Plant-Ex Ingredients Ltd, based in Avonmouth, has completed its first EcoVadis sustainability assessment, underscoring its commitment to environmental responsibility and ethical business practices.
EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment is a globally recognised evaluation of a company’s environmental, social and ethical performance across four key areas: environment, labour & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Since its launch, EcoVadis is used as a litmus test for sustainability of companies, which is used in some 175 countries.

This news follows the recent acquisition of Polish flavour and colour specialist Aromacolors, a move set to expand Plant-Ex’s business footprint across Europe.
The acquisition is expected to bring long-term benefits to the region, including the creation of skilled jobs in research and development, logistics and tech support, driven by increased trade. It comes as the company recently opened a 33,000 sq ft facility to support its growing operations.
Giles Drewett, chief executive at Plant-Ex, said: “Our first formal assessment marks the starting point of a long-term commitment to continuous improvement.
“We’re proud of the strong foundations already in place and we welcome the insights and recommendations. This assessment allows us to move forward with greater clarity and ambition and we see it as a chance to grow together with our customers and supply partners.”
“The report highlights early strengths across resource management, workforce wellbeing, health and safety, and responsible sourcing, aligning with Plant-Ex’s wider ESG strategy, which is underpinned by continuous investment in innovation, infrastructure and people.
“Recent developments, such as the acquisition of Aromacolors and the appointment of a global technical director, reflect this drive for excellence and a clear focus on scaling responsibly.”
