More than 60 per cent of small businesses could take actions to improve their environmental impact but fail to do so. Bristol24/7 and The Planet Mark Start are teaming up again to offer small businesses the chance to understand and develop their green credentials.
Better Business presents: Building a Sustainable Business on Thursday, October 24th 2019 at Origin Workspace on Berkley Square to explore the business case for developing a sustainability plan and the tangible benefits of doing so.

Commenting on the partnership with Better Business, Steve Malkin. CEO & Founder of The Planet Mark Start! Said: “Entrepreneurs have the power to act with agility, and create a future -proofed business model. One that starts with a vision of sustainability at the core, and captures an diversity of customers along the way” The Planet Mark Start! is a simple programme delivered by experts to help small businesses build sustainability into their business from the outset.
Collaborating with Better Business was a no-brainer for us because they believe in creating a thriving planet like we do. Their level of influence is a great way to amplify our vision to a community of like-minded organisations”
The Planet Mark Start service currently offers a rolling programme of free workshops, with more detailed training sessions available should a business want a more comprehensive support package – again funded by ERDF and the local authorities.
Speaking on behalf of Better Business, Managing Director Ben Wright, said:
“In many ways Bristol is undoubtedly leading the way when it comes to addressing the climate emergency. As the first city to aim for carbon neutrality by 2030 and a number of major Bristol institutions following suit it’s great to see momentum growing. It’s also encouraging to see that there is more enthusiasm for collaborative working and to engage in networks with social and environmental goals. We believe it’s important for us to use our platform and connections across the city to maintain the momentum and encourage more businesses to engage in discussion and find ways they can take action.”
Backed by ERDF funding, the free workshops, events and training will help a business to build the ‘business case’ for sustainability. Incorporating elements of social, environmental and energy efficiency to create a green solution which works for them.
