The different types of Bristol24/7 content

As a Community Interest Company, at Bristol24/7 we are proud of our editorial independence.

The articles on our website and in our printed publications are content that we write free from any outside influence. For example, interviewees will never see a story before it is published.

There are some occasions, however, when our content has been made in partnership with outside organisations or has been written by someone else.

These types of content will be clearly labelled as follows:

Opinion pieces

Anyone is welcome to write an opinion piece for Bristol24/7. These pieces of content are labelled ‘Your say’ and can be found in the Opinion section on the main navigation bar of our website. Opinion pieces are the thoughts and views of the individual who wrote them and not of Bristol24/7; we aim to write for a broad audience in Bristol and therefore we will publish any opinion piece providing it is relevant and does not state false facts or incite any kind of hate. If you are interested in writing an opinion piece, please contact [email protected] and [email protected]

Supported by

‘Supported by’ is used to describe editorially independent content. We accept funding from third parties for new projects and content we are already producing. As a small organisation this helps us pilot new ideas, reach new audiences and produce content we believe will be of interest to Bristol24/7 readers. ‘Supported by’ content will have the sponsor’s branding on it but we are not obliged to accept any ideas or direction from the funder; meaning our editorial team is free to write whatever they want without any outside influence. The content is written by Bristol24/7 journalists to the same standard expected in all our journalism and we do not show copy to funders for approval.

Sponsored

‘Sponsored’ is used to describe content that has been paid for and written by advertisers. This content is subject to regulation by the advertising standards agency. This content is created by the advertisers and hosted by Bristol24/7. On social media, sponsored content will be marked with #ad.

Member news

Member news describes press releases sent to us by members of our Better Business network. Whilst members may supply some or all of the content for these features, they are published at the editorial discretion of Bristol24/7. Our members are local businesses who pay £2,000 per year to be a part of our Better Business network. Find out more here:

Our articles

Any article that does not feature any of the above labels has been written by a member of the Bristol24/7 team.
