Royal Opera House Live: Don Pasquale

Director
Damiano Michieletto
Certificate
12A
Running Time
150 mins

Wealthy bachelor Don Pasquale is suitably outraged when he learns that his nephew Ernesto intends to marry the impoverished widow Norina. So he decides to disinherit the lad by finding a bride of his own. Time for the old ‘pretending to be your sister’ trick as Norina poses as her own suitably docile and submissive sibling in order to trick the horrible old bugger.

Bryn Terfel heads the cast for Damiano Michieletto’s new production of Donizetti’s comic opera, which does the mandatory contemporary resonance thing. The opera is broadcast live on October 24, with encore screenings to follow.
