The granddaddy of those wordless, hypnotic and often scary films about how we’re destroying the planet. Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi had the misfortune to be released in the wake of punk in 1982 and was consequently dismissed by the idiotically fashionable as hippy nonsense. Today his meditation on ‘life out of balance’ has acquired prophetic status.
Perhaps rather bravely, this screening sees that memorable and effective Philip Glass score replaced by a live performance by neo-classical post rockers We Stood Like Kings – a four piece piano-based band from Brussels.
