Jackie (screen veteran Derren Nesbitt, who was in Where Eagles Dare with Clint Eastwood) is an acerbic, straight octogenarian drag queen who works in a Brighton nightclub, where he forms an unlikely May-December friendship with 21-year-old non-binary performer Faith (Jordan Stephens, of Rizzle Kicks).
Jamie Patterson’s warm-hearted odd-couple drama charts a predictable path (there’s a terminal disease twist and I Will Survive gets an inevitable outing) but the performances are strong and the film walked away with both the audience award and the jury prize for Best International Film at LA’s Outfest.
