Billed as “a visual mix of cinéma vérité and video blogging”, My Friend the Polish Girl “raises questions about the role of truth and manipulation in both styles of filmmaking”.
It follows American filmmaker Katie (Emma Friedman-Cohen), who sets out to create a documentary about the lives of migrants in post-Brexit referendum London. As her main protagonist, she casts aspiring Polish actress Alicja (Aneta Piotrowska), with the sole instruction to act as if the camera wasn’t there. Co-directors Ewa Banaszkiewicz and Mateusz Dymek will be present for a Q&A after this preview screening.
