- Director
- Adrian Noble

- PG
- Running Time
- 91 mins
After playing JMW Turner in Mike Leigh’s biopic, Timothy Spall gets daubing again as a very different painter. This time he’s L.S. Lowry – of ‘matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs’ fame – who lives with his monstrous, domineering, disapproving, bedridden frightful old boot of a mother (Vanessa Redgrave) in 1920s Salford.
It’s adapted by Martyn Hesford from his stage play of the same title and directed by former RSC supremo Adrian Noble. This preview screening is followed by a talk from The Lowry Centre in Salford where Timothy Spall will be discussing L.S. Lowry’s life and art with gallery curator Claire Stewart.
