Paolo Sorrentino returns to Il Divo territory by reuniting with that film’s star Toni Servillo (who also played the lead in the director’s Oscar winning The Great Beauty) for another portrait of a controversial figure in Italian politics. And they don’t come more controversial than Mr. Bunga Bunga himself: Silvio Berlusconi.
Pleasingly described by the Hollywood Reporter as “visceral, grotesque and graphically vulgar”, Loro pulls no punches in its depiction of the lecherous tycoon-turned-politician and his sleazy milieu.
