Far From Heaven and Carol director Todd Haynes puts his artsy instincts to one side as he plunges into the David vs Goliath whistleblower genre with this true-life tale of a tenacious Cincinnati underdog lawyer (Mark Ruffalo) who spends nearly two decades pursuing giant chemical corporation DuPont through the courts to hold it accountable for knowingly poisoning its customers and the environment.
Anne Hathaway gets the mandatory two-dimensional supportive yet long-suffering spouse role, while Tim Robbins pops up as the senior partner in Ruffalo’s firm, who offers only limited backing to the lawyer’s crusade. Go here for our review.
