Irene’s Ghost

Director
Iain Cunningham
Certificate
PG
Running Time
81 mins

Filmmaker Iain Cunningham was told that his mother, Irene, had died when he was a child. He was 18 before he saw a photograph of her. Spurred on by the birth of his own child, he set out to penetrate the layers of silence that surrounded her life and death to discover Irene’s real story.

Described by The Guardian as a “profound, lovely documentary”, Irene’s Ghost uses bursts of animation to illuminate memory and fantasy.
