In what’s billed as an ‘interactive live cinema performance’, director Zia Anger turns her experiences of a failed feature film project into what’s decribed as a “convention-defying experience that will challenge your perception of what a film can be.”
What does this actually mean? The blurb explains: “For the duration of the performance, the desktop of Zia’s computer is projected onto the cinema screen. Sitting within the audience, the filmmaker types into a text window in real time, narrating thoughts and storylines which are fleshed out by accompanying video files, YouTube clips and Instagram stories. Telling a story that is laced with both humour and heartbreak, it covers what it costs, both economically and psychologically, to make, and then lose a debut film as a female filmmaker, and what it means to then try to move on.”
Note: this event has been cancelled because Zia Anger is unable to travel from the US due to the current coronavius situation.
