‘When it comes to Bristol’s food scene, it’s a love story so Taylor just say yes’

By Meg Houghton-Gilmour and Sophie Setter Jerrome  Monday Jun 17, 2024

Following seismic activity in Edinburgh, Taylor Swift will shortly be arriving in Cardiff for the next performance on her record-breaking eras tour.

Sadly she has no plans to perform in Bristol, but we are hoping we might be able to tempt her into a getaway car over the bridge with some of her favourite foods.

Taylor’s love for chicken tenders is well documented and luckily for her – I know places.

Bristol has just the ticket to satiate such cravings. Miss Millie’s is our home-grown fast food chicken brand that has been delighting South West fried food lovers since 1988.

Whether Taylor is after a pre-show snack or a tender feast, Miss Millie’s has a range of chicken tender options to choose from.

Miss Millie’s will have Taylor wanting to stay stay stay in Bristol

Not only is Taylor a talented singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and film director – she also loves to bake it off.

It’s doubtful she’ll be able to find the time between gigs to come up with her own creations, so we would suggest she makes the short journey to Bristol (even shorter by private jet) to pick up a sweet treat from either Farro or Anna Cake Couture.

In 2023, Farro was named one of the 20 best bakeries in the UK and their bulging chocolate babkas are the cover of this year’s Bristol24/7 EatDrink guide.

If Taylor is after something a bit more refined and traditional, the cupcakes and macarons at Anna Cake Couture are exquisite and will no doubt leave her haunted.

They also make cookie sandwiches – surely the optimum post-show pick-me-up.

When asked by Vogue what is the one thing she always has in her fridge, Swift responded with “hummus”.

She’s in good company in Bristol; with our vast population of veggies and vegans, we have got our hummus game down.

We would recommend a visit to Middle Eastern restaurant Souk Kitchen, which arguably does the best hummus in Bristol.

But she’s clearly got a packed schedule – if she can’t make it for dinner then at least try Bristol’s favourite lunch.

Eat A Pitta serves densely packed vibrant salad boxes with freshly fried falafel and lashings of the good stuff. It hits different.

Taylor, can we tempt you with some drinking in the afternoon?

I knew it from the first old fashioned we were cursed. This is a formal invite to join us at our favourite cocktail bar, Filthy XIII, where they will whip you up a cocktail worthy of your words.

The bar on Cheltenham Road is one of the best 50 cocktail bars in the UK and no doubt a very suitable venue for some post-show decompression; sparks will fly when you try their inventions.

Apparently, Taylor likes a crepe with ham, cheese and a fried egg for breakfast.

She would surely feel right at home in Bristol’s tiny Chez Marcel on Broad Street, where they even offer a buckwheat option – Taylor’s favourite! We are sure Taylor would be truly enamoured with the French feel of Chez Marcel, she might say it’s like we were in Paris.

At heart Taylor’s food choices show that she is one of us, just a down-to-earth hungry queen looking for her next bite to eat.

We hope our final recommendation will satisfy her burger cravings, though she’s unlikely to have ever experienced anything in the same realm as Bristol’s Squeezed or Danny’s Burgers before.

Both have won best burger in the UK in recent years and we think Taylor will be down bad once she tries them.

When it comes to Bristol’s food scene, it’s a love story so Taylor just say yes. We await your dinner invitation eagerly. Say so long to London or Cardiff and come to Bristol.
