What’s happening with the Avon Gorge Hotel?

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Sep 13, 2016

Months after it was announced that the Avon Gorge Hotel had been bought by the people behind the boutique hotel chain Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, work still hasn’t started on the building.

The Avon Gorge was one of four hotels bought back in December 2015 by Frasers Hospitality. The group paid around £36M for the hotels in Bristol, Brighton, Cheltenham, Exeter from Swire Properties Hotels Holdings.

Speaking back in December 2015, the CEO of Frasers Hospitality, Choe Peng Sum, said: “These four stylish and iconic hotels in their respective cities are a perfect fit for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, and this acquisition is clearly in line with the Group’s expansion strategy of the brands within the UK, Europe and Asia.”

While the Clifton hotel is still operating Frasers Hospitality haven’t yet revealed the development plans.

A spokeswoman for Frasers said she could “confirm that the company is still committed to the property” but at this stage she could not give any “confirmation of the exact date that work will begin”.
