Temporary toilets installed in the Harbourside

By Martin Booth  Saturday Apr 3, 2021

Seeing people urinate and even defecate outdoors has become an all-too familiar scene around Bristol as people congregate outside but most of the toilet facilities in the city remain closed.

In an effort to combat this, temporary toilets have now been installed by the city council in the Harbourside.

The free-to-use facilities are open every day from 9am until 8pm and will be regularly cleaned to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

A contract between the city council and Richmond Event Management reveals that two “temporay public toilet faciltiues” (sic) have an estimated total value of £133,633 for an initial two months.

Richmond Event Management organise events in Bristol including the Harbour Festival and Balloon Fiesta, and in 2020 were also appointed by the NHS “to provide project oversight, supply chain and logistics management for the staff support services” Bristol’s Nightingale Hospital.
