Sustrans to change its name
A charity founded in Bristol is changing its name to make the work they do more obvious.
From the end of September, Sustrans – which began in Bristol in 1977 as an organisation known as Cyclebag – will become Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
Sustrans’ headquarters are on Cathedral Square just off College Green, which is now the registered address of Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.

According to documents on Companies House, Sustrans legally changed its name to Walk Wheel Cycle Trust on August 15.
Sustrans signage remains at Cathedral Square, their website remains as Sustrans but social media accounts including Instagram have already been changed to walkwheelcycletrust
Sustrans – short for ‘sustainable transport’ – already call themselves “the charity making it easier for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle”.
The charity is also the custodians of the National Cycle Network, whose first section is now part of the Bristol & Bath Railway Path and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Sustrans head of brand and marketing, Lauren Mealor, said: “From the end of the month, Sustrans will start to look and sound a little different.
“We’ll still be the same charity, but we’ll soon be unveiling an exciting new brand and a new name.
“In the meantime, you may start to see minor changes happen across our social media channels as we gear up for our launch on 30th September.
“An exciting new chapter is about to begin!”
