Bristol snow update – Friday morning

Avon & Somerset Police declared a major incident as snow continued to fall across Bristol overnight.

Gritters have been out on main roads but people are urged to cancel travel plans other than for essential reasons.

  • An amber weather warning is still in place for Bristol
  • First and Wessex buses are not running
  • Many flights at Bristol Airport have been cancelled
  • Bristol Waste staff are not working on Friday, but people are still being urged to put their rubbish out when it can be collected as soon as possible
  • Light snow will continue to fall on Friday morning; heavier snow is forecast to fall on Friday afternoon
  • Maximum temperature expected on Friday is minus-three
