Protest planned in Bristol amid war fears
Nearly 200 people have declared their interest in attending a demonstration which will take place on Saturday, January 11.
The Bristol Stop the War Coalition will be protesting what they call Donald Trump’s recent “act of war” from 12pm to 2pm at fountains in the city centre .
The anti-war campaign group also campaigned for Palestinian freedom and against bombing Syria. This is the second time in three months they have actioned a “Don’t attack Iran” campaign.

The organisation’s latest protest stems from Trump’s order to assassinate Iranian general, Qasem Soleimani, in Baghdad, Iraq.
The worry is not just fear of Iranian retaliation, such as the missiles fired at US troops following the assassination, but also the possibility of an Iraqi retaliation now that their parliament has called for US troops to withdraw.

“We must do everything we can to oppose war with Iran,” says Jeremy Clarke, a spokesperson for Bristol Stop the War Coalition. “Protesting on Saturday is the first step in this.”
The protest group believe that a war will directly affect the UK because of the country’s relationship with the US and what they perceive to be parallels of thought between Boris Johnson and Donald Trump.
