By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jan 26, 2021

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after graffiti appeared on the Cenotaph in Bristol.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm on Monday and was cleared off by a team from Bristol Waste early on Tuesday morning.

Police used CCTV footage from private businesses and council cameras around Magpie Park to identify the man.

Officers were then able to locate and arrest him on Tuesday morning in connection with the damage to the Cenotaph and more graffiti in the Bearpit.

Police stressed that they do not believe the incident has any links with the skater community.
