Dozens of balloons take to the skies for Fiesta flypast

By Martin Booth  Monday Aug 3, 2020

Under cover of darkness, balloonists arrived at Ashton Court early on Monday morning for a top secret operation.

There may not be a Balloon Fiesta this year but Bristol was still treated to a magnificent mass ascent as some 40 hot air balloons took to the skies.

The Fiesta flypast floated over Long Ashton towards Dundry, with a aeroplane pilot drawing a smiley face in the sky just to add even more sparkle to proceedings.

Many of the balloons also took off from inside a giant heart that had been painted by the team from Upfest on the grass at Ashton Court – a larger version of hearts that have also been painted in Queen Square and Castle Park.
