Downhill shenanigans at Bristol’s first Krazy Races

By Martin Booth  Sunday Sep 7, 2025

Sitting on a sofa and with a pretend fire burning in an oil drum in front of them, the Turbo Islanders careered down Victoria Park, losing a cushion on their way over a small ramp.

They were one of the teams taking part in Bristol’s inaugural Krazy Races which also saw a miniature fire engine, a giant slice of birthday cake and a model of a DeLorean.

The aim was to complete the course as quickly as possible but also have as much fun while doing so.

The start on Sunday was delayed due to the rain but after the first team got going just before 1pm, the competitors came down the hill at regular intervals.

The crew from Avon Fire & Rescue took the team award on Sunday afternoon, the public award was given to This is How We Dooo It, the ‘Kraziest Kart’ was judged to be Amalgam and the best performance was the Inbetweeners-themed Ooooooo Friends.

The fastest time was Team Dad who went down the course in only 20.96 seconds, followed by Bristol Freeride (21.88 secs) and the Monkey Tree (22.00 secs).
