Clean Air Zone funds more improvements to Bristol buses
The return of the 512 service is just one of the changes coming soon to Bristol’s bus network.
The 512, which stopped in March 2023, will once again connect Windmill Hill, Totterdown and Bedminster to Broadmead.
Other changes include extending the 515 service from Stockwood to Imperial Park to run until 9.25pm, and extending the new number 16 service which currently travels from Fishponds to the city centre, further south of to Whitchurch.
is needed now More than ever
Our city’s network of night buses will be improved, offering an hourly service between midnight and 6am on Friday and Saturday including the 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 39, 70, 73, 74, m1 and an extension of the 43.
And there will be early morning journeys across the bus network with most routes offering arrivals into the city centre before 6am.
All of the changes will begin on August 31.

Ed Plowden, chair of the transport & connectivity committee, said: “I’m delighted that we’re adding more capacity to Bristol’s public transport network by investing Clean Air Zone income into our bus services.”
West of England mayor Helen Godwin added: “My biggest priority remains getting our region moving… These new and improved routes are a great step forward as we continue working with local authorities and bus operators across the West to tackle longstanding challenges.”
The news comes as 274,000 journeys have been made in the first two weeks of Godwin’s Kids Go Free scheme, giving children free bus journeys across the Bristol area.
