Bristol24/7 filmmaker Hannah Tyson winner at RTS Awards
Bristol24/7’s Hannah Tyson was an award-winner at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards.
Our Video Content Creator took home the Flying Futures prize, an award supported by the BBC Natural History Unit which “recognises outstanding emerging talent in any part of the behind-the-camera production process”.
Hannah followed her niece Jazzy’s mixed martial arts dream for a CBBC My Life documentary.
Jazzy’s MMA Dream was developed and made with Hannah by Longtail Films, whose MD and creative director Duncan Staff said making the film and its subsequent RTS win “was a deeply rewarding achievement for the whole team at Longtail (and) ranks as one of our very proudest achievements”.
The glittering awards ceremony took place at Bristol Old Vic on Sunday evening.
One of the big winners was the BBC’s Prisoner 951 which won three awards in Scripted, Director and On Screen Talent, Performance.
Underdogs from Clifton-based Wildstar Films also won three awards including the coveted Natural History category; with Wildstar Films also winning in the Factual category for Amol Rajan Goes to the Ganges.
Silverback Films of St Augustine’s Yard and Open Planet Studios of Regent Street in Clifton Village won two awards for Ocean with David Attenborough in the Composer and Cinematography categories.
Aardman also won two awards in Children’s and Animation for The Very Small Creatures and Shaun the Sheep.
Rachel Stonehouse from BBC West Investigations won the News / Current Affairs Journalist award; and wildlife cinematographer and presenter Hamza Yassin picked up the On-Screen Talent award for Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles.
