Bristol Charity Advent Calendar – day 20

By Bristol24/7  Monday Dec 19, 2016

Founded in 2008, campaigning against female genital mutilation, Integrate UK gained unprecedented success with a petition to the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove. Receiving over 230,000 signatures.

Formerly ‘Integrate Bristol’, the charity has gone from strength to strength and decided to relaunch this month as ‘Integrate UK’ as a nod to their growth across the country.

Since the success of their ‘FGM’ campaign, Integrate moved onto the issues of child sexual exploitation, radicalisation and gang culture.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

With over 100 young people up and down the country successful dissemination sessions have reached over 6000 students and professionals, as well as over 800,000 people indirectly.

Looking to the future, Integrate has launched #MyClitoris, a music video about ‘Type 4 FGM’, and in January 2017, work will begin on new media and lesson resources to raise awareness of so-called “honour”-based crime and forced marriage.

You can donate via Paypal and Local Giving.

Every day during Advent, Bristol24/7 will be focusing on a Bristol charity that you can support. If you want to see a charity featured, please email [email protected]
